A non-technical pamphlet from the novelty retailer Johnson Smith & Co., mixing speculative essays on rocket transportation, rocket warfare (illustrated with “Rockets fall on New York City”), and interstellar travel with practical plans for building small gunpowder- and sodium-propelled rockets to power toy cars, airplanes, and boats.
Internal advertising for the company's catalog confirms this exemplar was printed in or after 1936 — it touts Johnson Smith's recent move from Racine, Wisconsin to Detroit, Michigan “as of January 1, 1936” — despite the 1935 copyright date on the title page.
