Number 53 in the Colección Estudio de Conocimientos Generales, Editorial Seix Barral, Barcelona, 1946. Maluquer, who wrote several earlier titles in the same series on gliding, balloons and airships, and aviation, opens by presenting astronautics as the natural next step after the conquest of the air. It carries the first descriptions of Germany’s V-weapons in a Spanish-language book.
The twelve sections cover terrestrial attraction, reaction propulsion and the rocket motor, the spaceship and the interplanetary voyage, an artificial satellite, the possibility of reaching some celestial bodies, terrestrial applications of the rocket, a historical review of the rocket, and the reaction engine and its development. Photographs and drawings include a V-2 on the launching site, rocket launchers and aircraft.
