A short illustrated primer by a professor at the Moscow Aviation Institute, issued by the People’s Commissariat of the Aviation Industry’s publishing house in a printing of 5,000. It opens with Hero’s aeolipile and surveys liquid-fuel rockets, ramjets, and compressor-equipped turbojets. A closing section of about twenty pages of diagrams covers engine layouts and their installation in aircraft, and the book ends with a jet-rotor helicopter. Its conclusion calls jet aviation only at the start of practical use. Compare Kolesnikov’s 1947 textbook in this catalog.
