“Herausgegeben im Auftrage der Gesellschaft für Weltraumforschung e.V. von Dr. Ing. R. Merten,” with 65 illustrations. The publication records eight lectures on high-frequency engineering and space travel that the society’s radio-engineering working group selected in autumn 1950 and delivered and discussed at the 4th annual general meeting at the Landesgewerbemuseum in Stuttgart in early January 1951. Merten’s preface is dated Stuttgart, September 1951, and says the lectures were taped by Telefunken and printed at the participants’ request as a first attempt at this specialised field.
The contributors are W. Dieminger (“Weltraumfahrt und Ionosphäre”), H. Döring, F. W. Gundlach, F. Kirschstein, R. Merten, R. Mosch, W. Stepp, G. Ulbricht and W. Wolman. Their papers cover centimetre-wave technology, the range of radio measuring instruments, radio navigation, antennas for spacecraft, the control and stability of spaceships (starting from the V-2’s gyroscopic and remote control, with Nyquist diagrams), radio links with an external station and Doppler velocity measurement. The society also issued the periodical Weltraumfahrt, represented in Catalog E.
