Published by Calmann-Lévy in the series Science et Humanité (directed by Roger Simonet), “illustré de nombreux croquis et de 10 hors-texte.” The title page credits Ducrocq as Technical Adviser of the French Astronautical Section, and the colophon records that it was finished printing at Étampes on 20 October 1947.
Eleven chapters run from “On navigue dans le vide” and the interplanetary rockets, through life aboard the spaceship, Mars and its moons Deimos and Phobos, the role of radar and the Moon (“ce roc inaccessible et ingrat”), to the other worlds of the solar system, life in the universe and “Désintégration macroscopique?” An appendix on dematerialization, atomic energy and nuclear engines closes the book, followed by a list of illustrations. Ducrocq returned to the same themes, with the German rockets as his starting point, in Les Armes Secrètes Allemandes, also in this catalog.
