The preface cites the Soviet ICBM and Earth satellites as signs that landings on the Moon, Mars and Venus are near, and stresses the leading role of Russian scientists.

It ends with a list of 12 recommended titles, among them Vasilev’s Voyages Into Space and Gilzin’s Rocket Engines (both in this catalog). Printed in 25,000 copies.
