The editor’s foreword names Tsiolkovsky as the founder of the theory of space travel. Five chapters cover rocket motion in a vacuum and in air, possible uses of rockets (including Goddard’s 1913 proposal to send a projectile to the Moon), interplanetary voyages, and problems of the future such as speeds near that of light and atomic energy.
