NASA SP-45, published October 1963, covering L. Gordon Cooper, Jr.’s 22-orbit MA-9 “Faith 7” flight and, as its title indicates, summarizing the whole of Project Mercury rather than just this final mission. Foreword by Kenneth S. Kleinknecht (Manager, Mercury Project) and W. M. Bland, Jr. (Deputy Manager), continuing the series of reports on the three earlier orbital flights and two suborbital flights. Organized into four parts — space-vehicle development, mission support development, flight operations, and mission results — across 20 chapters contributed by authors from NASA’s Manned Spacecraft Center, Goddard, and Marshall centers along with the Air Force and other DoD participants, closing with Cooper’s own “Astronaut’s Summary Flight Report.” Appendixes list typical program documents, NASA centers and other government agencies involved, prime contractors and subcontractors, NASA personnel who took part in Project Mercury, and the full MA-9 air-ground voice transcript. This copy includes the laid-in errata slip correcting page 129 and supplying names inadvertently dropped from the Appendix E personnel list, among them Neil Armstrong, Wernher von Braun, Robert C. Seamans, and Abe Silverstein.
