Results of the Third U.S. Manned Orbital Space Flight

NASA’s official report (NASA SP-12) on MA-8 (Sigma 7, Walter Schirra), flown October 3 1962, published that December as a continuation of the reports on the first two orbital flights and the two suborbital flights that preceded it. Five sections cover spacecraft and launch-vehicle performance, mission operations, aeromedical analysis, and pilot performance, followed by Schirra’s own pilot’s flight report and an appendix transcribing the full MA-8 air-ground voice communications.
