Dated November 20, 1972 and marked “Do Not Discard—This Copy Baseline for All Launch Dates,” this is Change A to the CSM Flight Plan for Apollo 17, baselined for the December 6 launch that would send the last Apollo crew to the Moon. The acknowledgments page credits the Flight Planning Branch team by name for the plan’s principal contributions and graphics and copy preparation.
The body is the minute-by-minute mission timeline in the flight plan’s standard column format—ground-elapsed-time scales, systems-management call-outs, maneuver PADs, and burn-status report grids—running from translunar coast through lunar orbit and back.
Sampled pages cover the SIM-bay door jettison ahead of lunar orbit insertion (with a lunar-chart illustration of Copernicus crater for visual landmark tracking), lunar sounder and pan-camera operations timed against orbital ground tracks, the transearth injection maneuver pad, jettison of the lunar module after the crew’s final use of it (including a printed reminder to transfer no urine or feces and to store all open food in a Beta-cloth bag before closeout), and preparations for the deep-space EVA on the return trip to retrieve film cassettes from the service module’s scientific instrument bay.
