A plain grey cover, stamped only with a small LM silhouette and NASA and Grumman roundels, opens onto a stack of clear acetate overlay sheets that build up, layer by layer, into a fully labeled cutaway of the complete two-stage Lunar Module.
Each successive leaf adds a deeper structural pass — the outer thermal and micrometeoroid shielding, the descent stage’s fuel, oxidizer, and supercritical-helium tanks, the ascent stage’s reaction-control and electrical systems, and finally the crew cabin with its flight panels and stowed portable life-support packs — so that flipping through the booklet in order re-enacts the vehicle’s own construction from skin to systems.
The last spread pairs the fully assembled cutaway with a 118-item numbered legend keyed to every visible component, from the rendezvous radar and docking target at the nose to ALSEP-related items such as the Modularized Equipment Stowage Assembly, Scientific Equipment Boxes, and Specimen Return Container at the descent stage skirt — hardware that places this printing in the Apollo lunar-surface era.
The back cover credits Grumman Aerospace Corporation of Bethpage, Long Island (the company’s name after its 1969 rebrand from Grumman Aircraft Engineering Corporation), with printing by Transgraphic of Germany, a firm specializing in registered multi-layer transparency displays.
