A faithful Russian translation of Sänger's Raketenflugtechnik (1933), also in this collection, prepared under the editorship of the Kharkiv aerodynamicist Academician G. F. Proskura, who notes in his preface that Russian technical literature had nothing comparable for engineers working on rocket flight. The book's rigorous aerodynamic and thermodynamic treatment of the rocket-powered airplane — supersonic wing and nozzle theory, wave drag, climb and descent trajectories — estimates a stratospheric rocket plane's practical limits at roughly 4,000 m/sec maximum speed and a 35-50 km ceiling, laying the technical groundwork Sänger would later build on for his wartime antipodal-bomber concept.
This copy carries the accession stamp of the technical library of Factory No. 19, the major Soviet aero-engine plant in Perm. A later (1947) Russian edition by a different editor is also available in this collection.
