“Customer Training — Skylab Docking System,” dated March 22 1971, used for training purposes only, from Paul Weitz’s personal collection. Signed on the cover by Jack Lousma, Paul Weitz, and Bill Pogue, the pilots of the three Skylab crews.
Three sections: Docking System, Tunnel and MDA Pressurization System, and Docking System Specification, illustrated throughout with CSM Logistics Training diagrams.
Covers the CSM/Orbital Assembly docking operational phases (earth-orbit-insertion configuration, CSM separation with probe extended, CSM docked with the orbital assembly, and probe-and-ring jettison prior to CM–SM separation), the MDA tunnel vent and pressure-equalization valve, and tabulated docking velocity and alignment tolerances (e.g., axial closing velocity of 0.1–1.0 ft/sec, beyond which structural damage to both LM and CSM may result).
