Boxed two-section set: Section I, “The Story in Sound,” is six LPs (twelve sides) of recordings conceived and produced by Michael Kapp, with a narrative script by David Davidson narrated by Sorrell Booke, tracing the space race from a Prologue on Tsiolkovsky, Oberth, Goddard, and the German rocket team through Mercury, Gemini, and Apollo, ending with Armstrong’s first steps and Aldrin joining him on the surface; the recordings are copyrighted 1967–1969 to Redstone Productions and were “not licensed for broadcast.”
Section II is a silver-bound hardcover history in pictures and text by the editors of Time-Life Records, shelved alongside the records in the same black slipcase box.
The set is a period audio-visual complement to the paper record of the missions elsewhere in this collection—an LP-by-LP oral history assembled while the Apollo program was still in progress.
